IG orders inquiry into bribery allegations against cops

ISLAMABAD – A transporter appeared before Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Ahsan Younas in an open court and lodged complaint that some cops of capital police had arrested him and took bribe for setting him free. The capital police chief ordered SP Saddar Zone Tassawar Abbas to launch an inquiry into allegations levelled by Irfan Ullah, the transporter.

 Iftan Ullah, in his complaint, told IG that some cops rounded him up and later on released him after receiving bribe Rs 1 million in limits of Police Station Tarnol. 

Besides, IG directed SDPO Koral Abid Ikram to obtain order from a court of law for exhuming the grave of a man to ascertain the cause of death as the father of deceased accused his wife of poisoning him to death. 

As many as 25 citizens appeared before the IG in the open court and tabled applications against the police officers. IG Muhammad Ahsan Younas issued on the spot orders for redressing the grievances of public.
