IGP directs cops to demonstrate positive attitude towards complainants

ISLAMABAD    –   Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman has directed the police station staff to demonstrate positive attitude towards complainants for improving police culture in the capital.

Negative behaviour and unprofessional dealing with the applicants may tarnish the repute of police force, he said during his visit at Kohsar Police Station, informed a police spokesman on Saturday.

The IGP during his visit checked record of FIR registration, front desk and cleanliness and hygienic conditions at the station.

He was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) operations Afzal Ahmad Kausar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer and Superintendent of Police (SP) City Zone Umer Khan.

Rehman also had an interaction with the visitors at police station and inquired about the staff behaviour.

He directed to expedite the investigation process of pending cases to provide early relief to the complainants.

“Delay in registration of FIR will not be tolerated,” the IGP remarked.

He stressed the need to launch an effective awareness drive to eradicate drugs and social crimes in the society. Rehman asked the personnel to ensure all out efforts to maintain good liaison with the public.

Meanwhile, Karachi Company police claimed to have held two bootleggers and seized 552 bottles of alcohol from their possession at G-8 Markaz, according to a police spokesman. The detained accused have been identified as Muhammad Khan and Manzoor Khan, he said. 

 

He added the SSP Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer appreciated the efforts of police team.  There were also some unconfirmed reports that police recovered more than 700 bottles of liquor from a vehicle with arresting four smugglers. However, two persons were released by police without taking legal action against them besides showing low quantity of liquor in police record.
