A total of 183 policemen have been promoted to next ranks which includes 70 head constables, 44 assistant sub-inspectors, 43 sub-inspectors and 26 inspectors.

Islamabad police chief appreciated the hard work of policemen and said that each member of the force is hero for him as he serves the people despite various odds. The policemen have to perform duties in tough weather conditions and by remaining away from home which is really appreciable.

The IGP said that he along with his team was making efforts to improve law and order in the city and ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens.

The newly promoted officers also thanked IGP for his special interest towards holding meetings of Departmental Promotion Committee.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Afzaal Ahmed Kousar has directed the concerned officials to tighten noose around hardcore criminals in the city. He urged the officials to investigate the criminals in a professional manner and report to the office of the DIG within 15 days.

The DIG held separate meetings with the SSP (Operations), zonal SPs, and SDPOs in his office to devise a strategy to curb crime in the city, said the officials on Saturday. He asked the officials to take personal interest and constitute special teams and assign them tasks.

The DIG sought an end to the traditional policing and said that arrest of the culprits in criminal cases must be ensured. He said incidents of house burglaries would not be tolerated. He also directed the concerned officials to submit challans in the cases that had been pending since years and also submit a report in this regard to his office
