KARACHI: A petition filed with the Sindh High Court on Wednesday accused K-Electric of over-billing Karachiites through the use of digital meters.
According to details, a citizen named Uzair Shahid filed a petition in the Sindh High Court that K-Electric had over-billed Karachiites by Rs 77 billion.
“This malpractice is carried out the same way a mobile phone is used,” he revealed. “A SIM is placed inside the digital meter which is monitored from K-Electric’s headquarters,” he added.
Uzair alleged that from the headquarters, K-Electric was involved in the malpractice of increasing the units so that the cost incurred would be greater than the original one.
The lawyer of the petitioner claimed that a complaint had also been filed with NEPRA but action had not been taken.
The Sindh High Court has asked NEPRA to respond by November 8 to the petition.
