ISLAMABAD: Senior investigative journalist Ahmed Noorani has been wounded after he came under knife attack on Friday morning, police said.
The police sources said the attack took place in Islamabad’s Zero Point area early this morning.
According to the initial report, the criminals attacked Noorani and his driver with knives near Urdu University, leaving him wounded.
Both the wounded were shifted to Poly Clinic for treatment, police said. The two are in a stable condition despite sustaining wounds to the head.
Pakistan ranks 139 out of 180 countries on the World Press Freedom Index 2017 compiled by Reporters Without Borders, placing it among the world’s most dangerous countries for journalists.
Resorting to his Twitter handle, Sheikh Rashid deplored the attack on the journalist.
