With one day left in the deadline tomorrow for JIT to submit its report tomorrow the JIT is busy preparing its findings that will be included in the report.
The six-member JIT team will appear before the Supreme Court head by its head Wajid Zia.
The JIT took only a single day-off on Eid-ul-Fitr. The JIT members also worked till late last night.
The report is being written by two members of the JIT.
Meanwhile, the security of JIT members has further been beefed up. The JIT members will arrive at the Supreme Court under stringent security tomorrow.
Headed by Wajid Zia, the Additional Director General Wajid of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) the other members of the JIT are: BS-21 officer of State Bank of Pakistan Amer Aziz; SECP: Executive Director of Securities and Exchange Commission Pakistan Bilal Rasool. JIT member; Director of National Accountability Bureau Irfan Naeem Mangi; Brig Muhammad Nauman Saeed of Inter-Services Intelligence; and Brig Kamran Khurshid of Military Intelligence.
It may be mentioned here that Abbtakk News has acquired the details of documents submitted by the son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Hussain Nawaz to Joint Investigation Team (JIT) that contained the 23 relevant documents in book shape.
According to the documents Hussain Nawaz’s documents comprised of 136 pages and 23 relevant documents including details of his business, heir and other assets, Affidavit of Tariq Shafi, profile of Qatari Prince Sheikh Hammad Bin Jassam and copy of his letter to Supreme Court written on December 22, 2016.
The details also carry the credentials of sale and purchase agreement of Azizia Steel Plant and the copy of a cheque of Saudi-Holland bank costing 21.2 million and 35 thousands Saudi Riyal.
It is to be mentioned here that Hussain had appeared before the JIT for six times and faced hours long session of questioning by the team. Other members of his family including his father Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his brother Hassan Nawaz and sister Maryam Nawaz, and uncle Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif appeared before the JIT.
Four federal Ministers- namely Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal- addressed a press conference jointly yesterday to express grave reservations over the conduct of the Joint Investigation Team and clear that PML-N will reject JIT report if Qatari Prince Hammad Bin Jassim statement will not be recorded.
Defence Minister Asif Khawaja had said that in the past, Mark Siegel’s statement was recorded in a case while he wasn’t in Pakistan, why can the same not be done in the case of the Qatari Prince, said the defence minister.
He had said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz have all presented themselves before the joint investigation team.
Khawaja Asif questioned that, “Has anyone asked Imran Khan how his ex-wife sent him money through a cousin? Why was a JIT not formed to probe that matter?”
Ahsan Iqbal said that PML-N leaders were political people and respected the rule of law, and believed that the right to rule lied with the 220 million people of the country.
Ahsan Iqbal also said that gone are the days when backdoor was used to come to power.
He demanded that the JIT proceedings should be made public. “The video of what was asked and answered should be shown to the people,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq said PML-N has reservations on the composition of the JIT as two members of the probe body have anti-PML-N designs.
The minister said that the Sharif family was treated like common thieves and criminals without any proof against them. “But no one is ready to tell us where the theft took place.”
Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that PML-N does not fleeing from accountability if it is conducted on the bias against concrete solid evidences.
