Islamabad: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed more than 100 corruption references against corrupt and put them behind bar in line with its Enforcement Strategy.
The Bureau has recovered Rs45 billion during the period which a record achievement as compare to previous years. Performance of NAB also remained excellent in eyes of national and international organizations during last three years, NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said.
He was chairing a meeting held here on Monday to review the latest progress on implementation of measures taken by present management to further improve performance and efficiency of NAB.
Addressing the meeting, the chairman said Bureau had chalked out a comprehensive and Proactive Anti-Corruption Strategy and directed NAB officers to double their efforts in implementation of new initiatives.
NAB’s Investigation Officers strictly follow Code of Conduct as per law and year 2014 is actually basically called a year of re-invigoration. He said NAB has so far recovered Rs287 billion from corrupt and deposited in national exchequer.
Qamar Zaman said NAB with improved infrastructure and rationalized workload, has prescribed efficient, effective and expeditious disposal of white collar crimes cases, putting a maximum limit of 10 months which is a record as compare to other Anti-Corruption Organizations.
He said NAB has established state of the art Forensic Science LAB in Islamabad which has facilities of Digital Forensics, Questioned Documents and Fingerprint Analysis. The chairman said NAB gives priority to training of its Officers/Prosecutors as training is a continuous process for an efficient workforce capable of delivering assigned tasks timely.
He said Annual Inspection of all Regional Bureaus of NAB for year 2016 was conducted in January 2017 to Feb 2017. He directed Inspection and Monitoring Team (IMT) to conduct midterm review of all regional bureaus during July 2017 on basis of already prescribed criteria to know their Operational Efficiency Index in quantitative and qualitative terms in line with clearly drawn job descriptions.
He said NAB has established its own indigenous and effective Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES), catering needs of all concerned having salient features of maintenance of data at each stage including complaint entry, complaint verification, inquiry, investigation, prosecution stage and record preservation of Regional Board Meetings and Executive Board Meetings.
Qamar Zaman said successful completion of a pilot project in NAB Rawalpindi, MES has been introduced in Headquarter and all Regional Bureaus to monitor real-time performance of individuals as well as the Bureau.
The chairman appreciated devoted efforts of all concerned and directed officers/officials to conduct complaint verifications, Inquiries and Investigation strictly in accordance with rules and regulation on merit as NAB was determined to making Pakistan corruption free as eradication of corruption is our national duty.
