ISLAMABAD: A documentary about a mythological Polish traveller who non-stop new routes on 5 of a tallest plateau in Pakistan, won a two-day Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival.
The second festival, organized by a Pakistan National Council of Arts (Pnca), in partnership with a Ministry of Information and Eyebex Films resolved on Tuesday.
The jury comprised maestro artists along with Pnca Director General Jamal Shah and film star Faisal Rehman. The best films in 5 categories were awarded.
Top mark went to Jurek, about Polish traveller Jerzy Kukuczka. Award for a best film depicting enlightenment and sourroundings went to “Tashi and a Monk”, about a Buddhist village in Tibet and their acceptance of a traumatised small girl.
Pakistani film about fighter Hussain Shah, a usually Pakistani Olympic fighter to win gold, won a best novella category.
American documentary about climbers in a Yosemite valley, “Valley Uprising” won a assembly award. Pangolins in Peril won a best Pakistani documentary film award.
Chairman Pakistan International Mountains Film Festival (PIMFF) Wajahat Malik co-founder Maryam Cheema stressed a need to give voices from a mountains. Later, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was sealed between Pnca and PIMFF to make it permanent underline in a future.
Shah lauded a festival group and announced that subsequent year an Islamabad Film festival would be held. He combined that efforts are also being done to start a film academy in a capital.
The festival finished with Kalash dance opening by a National Performing Arts Group.
