ISLAMABAD – Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri yesterday expressed displeasure on over-staffing in MNA Hostel and Parliament Lodges.
“Being public representatives, it is our responsibility to save the public money and to ensure that every penny is spent in best interest of the masses,” said Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri.
He was expressing these views while chairing the meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library in Parliament House.
Directing to rationalise the strength, he said that over-staffing in Parliament Lodges and Government Hostel is the wastage of public money.
He also directed to strictly follow the policy of the government regarding the posting of CDA staff and officers in Parliament Lodges.
He also directed CDA to provide briefs, presentations and other documents in Urdu to Committee in future. The committee member expressed their concern on non-compliance of complaints of Parliamentarians residing in Parliament Lodges and Government Hostel. The committee directed Executive Director Polyclinic to establish a dispensary at Government Hostel. Executive Director Polyclinic assured the committee to establish fully functional dispensary at Government Hostel soon.
The committee was also briefed about establishment of offices for the Chairmen Standing Committee in Parliament Lodges for which 2.2 acres were allocated where 92 chambers for Chairmen of Standing committee will be built. The committee desired that layout plan should be followed to save public money as much as possible.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad briefed the committee about operation against land mafia to vacate the illegally occupied land of National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society.
He also briefed that high court has cancelled the stay order taken by land mafias. The committee directed the CDA to look into the issue and to brief the committee about cancellation of lay out plan of the other housing societies which has occupied the land of National Assembly Employees Housing Society.
