NA speaker summons important in-camera session tomorrow

According to sources, the in-camera meeting of the National Assembly will start at 02:30 pm tomorrow (April 14) in the assembly hall.

The National Assembly speaker has invited all the federal ministers, members of the parliament and personal assistants, sources added.

Sources said that the senior military leadership will brief the national assembly on national security affairs.

Meanwhile, speaking in the National Assembly today Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that an in-camera session of National Assembly regarding the country’s security situation will be held tomorrow (Friday).

The Prime Minister assured that the concerns of the members would be addressed and that no such thing would be done which deteriorates the situation. He said our effort will be to fix the problems.

Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif said the military leadership will be present in the national assembly session and respond to the queries of the members.

He said the military leadership is cognizant of the challenge posed by terrorism. He voiced serious concerns over the surge in terrorist acts in the country saying those who helped the terrorists settle in the civilian areas must be held accountable.

It is pertinent to mention here that on April 7, the National Security Committee (NSC) approved a multi-pronged comprehensive operation with the support of the government and the nation to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country with a new resolve, determination and valour.

The federal ministers, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, services chiefs and high-ranking officers of the departments concerned attended the meeting.
