No extraordinary burden of patients reported at allied hospitals during Eid holidays
Rawalpindi :The three teaching hospitals in town did not receive any extra ordinary burden of patients at their emergency departments during Eid holidays, from June 25 to 28 and unlike the past years, the number of trauma cases reported at the three hospitals also did not show any extra ordinary surge.
The staff including doctors, nurses, paramedics and general staff performed their duties well during Eid days and the heads of the allied hospitals expressed satisfaction on the standard of the services rendered to patients during holidays.
The outpatient departments and main operation theatres were not operational at Holy Family Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital and Benazir Bhutto Hospital on Eid days. Both the routine OPD and emergency cases were received by the emergency departments at the allied hospitals.
The DHQ Hospital did not receive any extra ordinary burden of patients at its emergency department during Eid holidays, said DHQ Hospital Chief Dr. Khalid Randhawa while talking to ‘The News’ on Thursday.
The number of cases of road traffic accidents (RTA) remained low on Eid days and it may be because of the efforts of the concerned authorities including traffic police on putting strict check on one wheeling activity, he said.
It is important that every year on festive occasions including Eidul Fitr, the number of trauma cases remains high from ‘Chand raat’ to the first day of Eid mainly because of road traffic accidents involving wheelie activity in town.
Dr. Randhawa added that on the third day of Eid, the DHQ Hospital received eight victims of an accident near Kohala. Of these, one patient with jaw fracture left for Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences while six have been discharged. Only one patient has been retained and he is also stable, he said.
No untoward incident was reported in town from June 25 to June 28 and the number of cases reported at the HFH emergency department was a little extra as compared to routine mainly because majority of private clinics and hospitals did not operate during Eid holidays, said Medical Superintendent at HFH Dr. Raja Shafiq Sarwar while talking to ‘The News’ on Thursday.
He added that the hospital did not receive any extraordinary burden of patients from the first day of Eid to the third day nor any bigger emergency was reported at the hospital. Emergency department of Benazir Bhutto Hospital also received no extra ordinary burden of patients from ‘Chand Raat’ to third day of Eid.
