Pakistan all set to hold election on July 25

Pakistan is all set to hold its election on Wednesday, July 25. The day has been declared a public holiday.

The process of deploying personnel of the armed forces to assist in the election has been completed, said the army’s media wing, ISPR, in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, the armed forces personnel have been deployed to provide mandated assistance to the Election Commission.

The ISPR said that they will ensure a peaceful election and will assist the Election Commission in conducting transparent elections. They are coordinating with law enforcement agencies, said the army’s media wing.

As many as 375,000 troops were trained for election duty. At least 450,000 policemen will also perform security duty.

Voting will begin at 8am on Wednesday and will continue until 6pm. As many as 270 National Assembly seats and 570 seats of the four provincial assemblies are up for grabs. There are 85,307 polling stations across the country, of which 20,000 have been declared sensitive.

According to the electoral rolls, 105.96 million voters are eligible to vote. Election campaigns ended at midnight on Monday.
