This would be a source of relief for the people fatigued of frequent power failures and overcharging of profiteers in Ramadan. Passengers would be provided facility of reduced fares up to 16-25% in different classes of Bahauddin Zakaria, Sukkur Express, Multan Express and Mehr Express, while Karachi Express, Pak Business, Jaffer Express, Bahauddin Zakaria Express would give discount in fares up to 11-15%.
On the other hand, Millat Express, Tez Gam, Awam Express, Allama Iqbal, Subuk Khuram, Rawal Express, Islamabad Express and Margalla Express would give discount up to 10% in fares.
The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC), on 23rd May, approved special Ramadan Package worth 1.75 billion rupees for providing relief to consumers. The approval was granted in ECC meeting held in Islamabad today with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair.
The package will cover 22 essential items of daily use available at the Utility Store Corporation of Pakistan. There will be discount of 5 to 10% on items of different brands. There is reduction of up to Rs. 30 on different beverages and the price of flour and sugar will be reduced by Rs. 5 and 6 respectively.
The prices of vegetable oil and ghee of different brands will be reduced by up to Rs.10 whereas price of date will be reduced up to Rs. 40-80. Prices of Masalas will be reduced by 10% and prices of tea and packet milk will be reduced by Rs.87 and 8 respectively.
