Philanthropist Dr Amjad Saqib receives Commonwealth Points of Light award

Dr Amjad Saqib was recognised for his intentional services during a 31st Commonwealth Points of Light for his work formulating Pakistan’s largest micro-finance organization that is benefitting hundreds of thousands of disadvantaged people.

He is a owner of “Akhuwat”, that claims to be a largest microfinance organization in Pakistan, that provides interest-free loans to people with disadvantages so they can arise a tolerable income.

Started in 2001, Akhuwat now has 700 branches in 350 cities opposite Pakistan, enabling over 600,000 people to turn self-reliant.

The gift also supports preparation initiatives, including ‘Akhuwat College’, that non-stop in 2015 and provides a residential trickery for students who can't means peculiarity education, and ‘Akhuwat University’, that will open in Nov 2018 as Pakistan’s initial giveaway university, ancillary over 600 students.

The Commonwealth Points of Light endowment is a personalised certificate sealed by Her Majesty The Queen as Head of a Commonwealth.

The endowment was presented by UK High Commissioner in Pakistan Thomas Drew.

On receiving a endowment Dr Amjad said, “Poverty is poison. Poverty is pain. We need to arise together and make a accordant bid to revoke misery and make this universe a happy place to live in. Thanks to a Commonwealth and Points of Light for recognising ‘Akhuwat’ and a bid for this good mission.”

The high commissioner said: “I am gay to benefaction Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib with a Commonwealth Point of Light endowment for his well-developed intentional use that has benefitted hundreds of thousands of disadvantaged people”.
