PIMS doctors to visit Nawaz Sharif again

A team comprising four PIMS doctors will visit former PM Nawaz Sharif once again in Adiala Jail on Tuesday.
They will perform medical tests such as ECG and ultrasound on the three-time premier. They will also collect blood samples to check his sugar and creatinin levels.
According to the former PM’s party, he is suffering from high blood pressure but has been refused permission to see his personal doctor.

He was convicted in absentia on corruption charges and arrested upon his return to Pakistan on July 13, 12 days ahead of the July 25 election.
“Caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk and chief minister of Punjab Hasan Askari were approached with a request to provide access to Sharif’s personal physician but all requests went down the drain,” PML-N spokesperson and former minister Marriyum Aurangzeb told AFP. “Nawaz Sharif, who is also a heart patient, has been quite unwell since Saturday after his blood pressure went up.” AFP could not reach officials at the Adiala prison in Rawalpindi where Nawaz is being held.
According to Aurangzeb, the former premier needed a special diet and air conditioning due to a heart condition but was being denied both. She added that his cell in the jail has “serious hygiene issues”.
The interim government has assembled a team of doctors who are set to offer Nawaz a check-up.
On the other hand, President Mamnoon Hussain asked the caretaker PM to ensure that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is currently in jail, receives proper medical treatment. The president telephoned the caretaker PM on Monday and expressed his concern over reports regarding Nawaz’s health.
The Supreme Court disqualified then PM Nawaz in 2017. He became the 15th prime minister in Pakistan’s 70-year history to be removed before completing a full term.
