Police arrest 6 dacoits

RAWALPINDI-Police have busted two dacoit gangs by arresting six active members besides seizing looted items, informed a police spokesman on Saturday.

Police were carrying out further investigation against the detained accused involved in a series of incidents of street crime and motorcycle lifting after filing cases against them, he said.

According to him, a team of officials of Police Station New Town, under the command of Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Mirza Javed Iqbal, have rounded up four notorious members of Qaru Gang and recovered 11 mobile phones, three motorcycles, cash and weapons. He added the detained accused have been identified as Haris, Sagheer, Hanzala and Moaz, who had confessed their involvement in scores of incidents of mobile, cash and motorcycle snatching on gunpoint. Similarly, Ratta Amral police apprehended two dacoits namely Muhammad Adnan and Jawad who were operating Dani Gang. The investigators have also recovered cash they took by selling a stolen motorcycle and weapons from their possession, he mentioned. The accused have been sent to jail for identification parade by police through court of laws, he said adding the City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas and Superintendent of Police Rawal Division Rai Mazhar appreciated the efforts of the SHOs and their team members for netting the most wanted dacoits. He said the top cops ordered the SHOs to accelerate action against the dacoit gangs operating in the division.

Meanwhile, Chontra police, under the supervision of SHO Inspector Zaheer Ahmed Butt, have netted a proclaimed offender namely Sajid Mehmood wanted by police for his alleged involvement in murder of Taqueer took place at Ranotra five years ago. He said the other accomplices of killers have been challaned by the investigators in the murder case. City police chief Muhammad Ahsan Younas praised the performance of SHO Inspector Zaheer Butt and his team.
