Police arrest ex-DSP over scuffle with cops

RAWALPINDI – Police have arrested a dismissed senior cop on charges of scuffling with traffic police over stopping on violation of one way in Chakwal, informed sources on Friday.

A case has also been registered against the accused identified as Imran Jamil Babar, who was dismissed from service because of his involvement in criminal activities, following orders of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Region Imran Ahmer, the said.

A case was registered by officials of PS Bhoon while further investigation was on, sources mentioned.

According to details, a man was travelling on wrong side of road when the traffic police stopped him over traffic rules violation. However, the man, later identified as ex-DSP Imran Babar Jamil, started scuffling with the cops and then sat in the car and locked the doors. Traffic police alerted local police which rushed to the scene and tried to pull out the accused out of car but he put off resistance. 

On which, the police and other personnel of law enforcement agencies forcefully pulled him out of car and shifted him to police station for further action. 

RPO Rawalpindi Imran Ahmer took notice of the incident and ordered DPO Chakwal Muhammad Bin Ashraf to register case against accused. Chakwal police lodged FIR against accused and started investigation, they said.
