Police register FIR against cops involved in kidnapping tourists

Islamabad-The police have lodged FIR and began investigation against policemen involved in a brazen act of kidnapping three tourists for ransom and detaining them in the private torture cell in G-15.

While one cop-cum-kidnapper Ahmed Ullah has been arrested by arrested by Tarnol police, raids are being carried out to arrest other accused. 

The FIR was lodged after one of the victims namely Irfan Ullah, resident of Khyber Agency and transporter by profession, appeared before Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Ahsan Younas in an open court and sought legal action against the accused cops involved in kidnapping him along with two of his friends for ransom.

According to the FIR lodged by Irfan Ullah with PS Tarnol, he along with his friends Muhammad Fiaz and Muhammad Ali was travelling to Murree from KP on December 13, 2021, when three policemen of Islamabad police stopped them at Sangjani Toll Plaza, bundled them in a car after tying their hands and covering their eyes and took them to a flat located at G-15, where they were tortured mercilessly. They were released on December 15, 2021 on Kashmir Highway after the kidnappers received Rs 1 million from their family through a co-accused in Peshawar. 

An internal inquiry, conducted by Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Zone Tassawar Abbas on directions of IGP has confirmed that four cops namely Asim Shah, Hikmat Khan, Hamza Alam and Ahmed Ullah kidnapped the three men and released them after getting ransom of Rs 1 million in Peshawar.

The IGP, in a statement, said that a case has been registered and action will be taken against the cops who committed a heinous crime by kidnapping the tourists. He said there is no room for black sheep in the police department.
