ISLAMABAD – The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Islamabad Afzaal Ahmed Kousar has said that the police have bagged success in resolving several crime cases involving hardcore criminals recently.
He said that police are committed toeradicate crime from the society. He was addressing a press conference at this office here on Friday.
SSP(Investigation) Atta urRehman, SP (Industrial Area) Fida Hussain Satti, DSP CIA Hakim Khan, SHO Ramana police station Akhtar Zaman and others were alsopresent on the occasion. Giving background of a case, the DIG told the media that last week, three dacoits forced their entry into a house in the jurisdiction of Ramna police station, however, police immediately got the information and reached the spot. Upon seeing the police party, the accused started firing on them and resultantly two of the personnel, Muhammad Saqlain and Muhammad Arshad got injured. However, the police managed to arrest two accusedShakazBaig and ShehramAsghar. The ring leader, however, made good his escape from the crime scene.The DIG said that IG Islamabad Qazi Jamil urRehman taking notice of the same, directed him for the arrest of the absconding accused. He constituted a team under the supervision of SSP (investigation) to arrest the third culprit. The team, he said, comprising of DSP Hakim Khan and SHO Ramna police station arrested the third accused, Tabassam son of Naseer Ahmed, a resident of Daska, district Narowal. During the preliminary investigation, the accused confessed to havebeen involved in nine such incidents of crime including three in the jurisdictionof Golra police station, one in Karachi Company police station and others in the jurisdiction of Ramna police station.The DIGfurther told the media that the IndustrialArea police have also arrested twopersons for demanding Rs50million from WaheedSadiq as ransom. The citizen hadstated before SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer that the accused haddemanded Rs50 million as ransom from him.
The Industrial Area police had registered acase in this regard. The police team working under the guidance of SPIndustrial Area also recovered Rs3.5million from the accused, said the DIG. Theaccused have been identified as Muhammad AyyazLodhi and Muhammad OwaisLodhi.The DIG said that the IG Islamabad Qazi Jamil Ur Rehmanhas announced a cash prize for the policeteams. He also told the media that two gangs have been arrested for their involvement in street crime along the IJP Road and adjacent areas.
