Police return stolen motorcycles, vehicles to owners

Rawalpindi-Police on Friday returned 100 motorcycles, two cars, a jeep and tractor trolley to their rightful owners after recovering from auto theft gangs.

City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas handed back the motorcycles and vehicles during open court after the owners, who had reported them stolen and showed clear evidence of ownership to the investigators. 

SSP Operations Shohaib, SSP Investigation Muhammad Faisal Kamran, SP CIA Tariq Mehboob and other senior and junior officers were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas said that car and motorcycle theft is a major crime being committed in Rawalpindi while police are making efforts to overwhelm auto theft gangs. He said dealing with crime victims as well as general public politely in police stations is part of best policing. He said all the accused held by police would be produced before court of laws and substantial evidences to be presented to get them punished.

“The applicants should cooperate with police investigators and identify the criminals during identification parade and court proceedings,” CPO said adding that police will protect the crime victims and witnesses.

He said maintaining law and order situation as well as protecting lives and property of public is prime responsibility of police. “So far, 111 cops and officers have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty,” he said.

He said Rawalpindi is a city with population of 6 million where the police have intensified action against terror and criminal gangs and those involved possessing illegal weapons. 

Meanwhile, Saddar Bairooni police have arrested a man on charge of raping a woman and locked him up. A case has also been registered against the accused identified as Danish Abbas, according to a police spokesman.

He added a woman lodged complaint with PS Saddar Bairooni stating she was taken to a house by Danish where he assaulted her sexually. She asked police to register case against the accused and to arrest him. Police registered case and held Danish.

Similarly, police officials of Gujar Khan have arrested two proclaimed offenders involved in murder and attempted murder case during a raid and put them behind the bars. 

The detained POs have been identified as Kashif Munir and Muhammad Imran. Police said the duo had shot dead Ghazanfar Ali, Asif Mehmood and Masood Ul Hassan while injured Tayyab Rehman in August 2020.

Airport police also arrested a proclaimed offender namely Mubeen Bahadur wanted in a dacoity case. City police also arrested a proclaimed offender namely Jamal Uddin in a bank cheque disowning case, the spokesman said. He said Rawat police nabbed Javed Afzal, a proclaimed offender. CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas appreciated the efforts of police teams for netting proclaimed offenders.
