Islamabad: ‘Salat Istisqa’ a special prayer for rain was held at Faisal Mosque after Juma prayer.
Besides the International Islamic University staff members and students, people from different walks of life offered the prayer organised in light of the prolonged dry spell.
A lack of rainfall during the last many weeks has not only caused high incidence of respiratory and eye problems but also triggered heavy smoggy conditions in parts of Punjab leading to many deadly road accidents due to low visibility.
While forecasting little precipitation in near future, the Met Office has also warned November and December will see ‘less than average’ rainfall.
The Faisal Mosque organised the prayer in line with the tradition of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), who used to ask Allah for rain in this manner when there was a shortage of it.
