Security arrangements finalised to celebrate Eid Milad today

Rawalpindi – Police and the district administrations have chalked out elaborate security plans for processions to be taken out on Eid Milad Un Nabi today (Tuesday).

According to the plan in the city, the as many as 3700 policemen and personnel of other law enforcement agencies will perform patrolling and security duties to guard the main procession of Eid Milad Un Nabi (SAW), said a police spokesman on Monday. Similarly, 3000 well equipped cops and officers would also shield the other small and big processions, he added.

“Some 500 traffic wardens and the officers to be deployed to control traffic rush and to facilitate the participants of the processions,” he said.

The main procession in the city will start from Markazi Jamia Masjid in Banni and will culminate its starting point.

He informed a total of 101 small and big processions to be taken out in the city amid tight security. CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas, in a statement, said that guarding the lives and property of citizens is the top most priority of police. He said all the police officers have been directed to provide foolproof security to the processions of Eid Milad Un Nabi (SAW).

Walk-through gates will be installed at all the entry points of the procession and metal detectors will be used for checking of the participants, said the city police chief.

Similarly, CTO Rai Mazhar said the traffic wardens have been directed to ease traffic flow in the city on eve of Eid Milad Un Nabi (SAW) and to facilitate the citizens.

In Rawalpindi, local residents and Milad committees have decorated the route of the main procession with buntings and banners. Government and private buildings, shopping malls, houses, roads and streets have also been decorated.
