Singapore has ‘most powerful’ passport in the world, Pakistan ranked at no. 93

  • October 25, 2017

Singapore may be a city-state but it has the most powerful passport in the world, according to the ‘Global Passport Power Rank 2017’ by global financial advisory firm Arton Capital.

This is the first time that an Asian nation has topped the list and left behind all countries. Previously, Germany and Singapore shared the number one spot in the rankings.

Germany is now placed at number two in the list. What this means is that now if you have a Singapore passport, you can travel easily to 159 countries around the globe.

This means that you can enter in 159 countries visa-free or by obtaining a visa on arrival.

The picture does not look good for Pakistan

Pakistan meanwhile is nowhere in the last even in the top 50 countries. While India has improved its ranking from number 78 to number 75, Pakistan has finished at the second-last spot at number 93.

The dismal aspect of the whole situation is that Pakistan shares the spot at number 93 with war-torn Iraq. Beneath Pakistan is the country last on the list–Afghanistan placed at number 94.

“Visa-free global mobility has become an important factor in today’s world,” said founder and president of Arton Capital Armand Arton.

“More and more people every year invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in a second passport to offer better opportunity and security for their families,” he added.
