Small, big rallies in twin cities join PDM main rally

islamabad-Scores of small and big rallies by opposition parties were taken out on Tuesday in different parts of twin cities to join Pakistan Democratic Movement’s main rally outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) building.

The bosses of police of twin cities also placed foolproof security arrangements to protect the participants of rallies of opposition parties.  Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamil Ur Rehman, DIG Operations Waqar Uddin Syed, SSP Operations Syed Dr Mustafa Tanvir and SP City Umer Khan also paid visit to Red Zone to monitor security arrangements. Similarly, the top bosses of Rawalpindi police including CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas, SP Rawal Rai Mazhar, SSP Potohar Division Syed Ali and SP Saddar Division Zia Uddin Ahmed also reviewed security arrangements on Murree Road.

The wardens of City Traffic Police (CTP) and officials of Islamabad Traffic Police controlled traffic rush as per traffic plan issued by CTO Syed Ali Akbar and SSP Traffic Islamabad Farrukh Rashid to facilitate the participants of rallies.

According to details, the opposition parties including PML-N, PPP, ANP, JUI-F and JUP gathered in different parts of city to join main public gathering of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in Islamabad to press upon the ECP to resume and decide the foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI). The participants were holding placards and banners and changing slogans against Prime Minister Imran Khan and other party leaders. 

A rally was taken out by PML-N Barrister Danial Chaudhry from Chaklala Scheme 3 which reached at Murree Road. Similarly, several rallies of PML-N were carried out by other leaders including Malik Abrar Ahmed, Malik Iftikhar Ahmed from PML-N Public Secretariat Peshawar Road; Haji Pervaiz, Sardar Nasim and Malik Shakeel Awan from Muslim League House at Iqbal Road; former candidate for MNA on PML-N ticket Sajjad Khan from Committee Chowk and Seema Jilani, Zeb Un Nisa Awan and others rallied from Satellite Town. 

A rally also appeared from Khayaban-e-Sir Syed under the leadership of Malik Shehzad. 

A big number of workers and leaders of JUI-F also gathered at Liaquat Bagh and chanted slogans against the government.

They later moved towards Islamabad in a shape of motorcade via Murree Road to join the main rally outside the ECP Building.

CTP wardens blocked Liaquat Bagh Square that led to traffic blockage in different parts of city.

Meanwhile, IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil Ur Rehman visited the protest site in Islamabad and appreciated the comprehensive security arrangements by DIG Operations Waqar Uddin Syed and SSP Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanvir. “All the divisions of Islamabad police have put joint efforts to secure the participants of rally and to maintain law and order situation in capital,” said IGP.
