Professional wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, known as The Great Khali, has been stopped from campaigning in India’s Bengal, reported Hindustan Times.
On April 26, he participated in a roadshow for his “friend” Anupam Hazra, a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Bengal’s Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency in Kolkata’s southern suburbs.
A complaint was filed against the wrestler for participating in the campaign. The complainant, the Trinamool Congress, said that Khali is a citizen of the US and cannot campaign for elections in Bengal.
The complaint said that a foreigner should not be allowed to influence the minds of Indian voters as he has no knowledge of who would be an appropriate MP in India.
