Universities marketplace of new ideas: Gilani
ISLAMABAD – Former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani yesterday said that the universities were marketplace of new ideas that fuel innovation.
Gilani, the incumbent Leader of the Opposition in Senate addressed the inaugural ceremony of Ibadat International University here.
“I cannot emphasize enough the critical role that our youth will play in shaping our future. In fact, it would not be wrong to say that the youth is the future,” he said in his speech.
The Pakistan People’s Party vice chairman said he firmly believed in the Ibadat International University’s vision of creating a technological ecosystem which should not only be wholeheartedly supported but embraced as a necessary value and goal.
He expressed his gratitude to the management of the university for starting this new project, and hoped that this university will leave an indelible impact on the higher education landscape of this country.
PPP vice chairman said that this university was planning to create technology hubs and parks, establishing global linkages, and facilitating research in diverse fields, ranging from medicine to cloud-computing.
“When I was the Prime Minister, I took great interest in ensuring that our higher education framework is bolstered and improved, keeping in mind the unavoidable tech revolution. My government’s policy was oriented towards preparing our future generations for the revolution that we are witnessing today,” he added.
Gilani said the emerging technologies were making a great impact around the world in every sphere of life. He maintained that the PPP government, under him, introduced policies oriented towards “preparing our future generations for the revolution that we are witnessing today.”
Three former prime ministers including Gilani, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf attended the ceremony. National Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri was also present on the occasion.
