Boxer Muhammad Waseem, Pakistan’s first ever boxer who has held the WBC title, lashed out at Amir Khan and complained of lack of support from officials as compared to the former.
Speaking to SAMAA TV, Waseem said that it was unfortunate how he had always represented Pakistan whereas Amir Khan had represented Britain.
“I take part in the sport for Pakistan and represent our country but despite that am overlooked,” he said. “Whereas Amir Khan who does not represent Pakistan internationally, gets hundreds of thousands of rupees, sponsors and gyms are opened in his name,” he said.
Stating that Pakistan was just a source of earning for Amir Khan, Waseem urged authorities to grant sponsors to local boxers who were representing Pakistan.
“Amir Khan does not support Pakistani boxers,” he alleged.
