On the special directives of Interior Minister, Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) is carrying out work on a project of laying sewerage pipelines in four union councils and PP-6 with an estimated cost of Rs550 million. The funds for implementing these sewerage schemes in 4 UCs and PP-6 have been allocated by Ch. Nisar Ali Khan to Wasa. The work on sewerage schemes would be enforced in two phases.
To inspect the scope of work being done, Managing Director, Wasa, Raja Shaukat Mahmood, visited the project sites which included PP-6, UCs 74,75,76 and 77. During his visit, Raja Shaukat reviewed the pace of work being carried out in the UCs and PP-6. He issued necessary directions on the spot which included early completion of the project by further expediting the work.
Speaking on the occasion, the managing director said with the laying of sewerage pipelines in these union councils, the living conditions of the people would improve. Due to absence of sewerage system, unhygienic and unhealthy atmosphere persisted in these UCs.
The contractors briefed the Managing Director that work on laying 48 inch trunk lines of Qatar is being carried out , whereas laying of 9inch and 18 inches secondary pipe lines in the UCs are also part of the project. Entire work on Sewerage project in these UCs would be completed before the scheduled date, the contractors told Raja Shaukat.
According to official spokesman, Umar Farooq, that sewerage projects in the 4 UCs and PP-6 is being enforced due to keen interest and efforts of interior minister, Ch. NisarAli Khan. Besides implementing sewerage sches, work on another project including provision of clean drinking water to the residents of the 4 UCs and PP-7 is also being carried out which is under completion process.
