North Korea detains third US citizen
SEOUL: North Korea incarcerated a US citizen on Friday as he attempted to leave a country, bringing a sum series of Americans hold by a removed nation to three.
Korean-American Tony Kim had spent a month training an accounting march during a Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST), a university’s chancellor, Chan-Mo Park, told Reuters on Sunday.
Kim, who also goes by his Korean name Kim Sang-duk and is in his fifties, was incarcerated by North Korean officials during Pyongyang International Airport as he attempted to leave a country, Park said.
“The means of his detain is not famous though some officials during PUST told me his detain was not associated to his work during PUST. He had been concerned with some other activities outward PUST such as assisting an orphanage,” Park said.
