Janet Jackson took to social media to pay tribute to her former ‘Good Times’ co-star Ja’Net DuBois after she passed away. Just hours after the terrible news was confirmed, Janet broke her silence, posting a heartbreaking message about the passing of her ‘longtime friend.’

The Good Times actress was 74 years old and reportedly died in her sleep.

The singer shared a number of throwback pics of her and Ja’Net, who played her character’s adoptive mom in the comedy show.

Alongside the photos, she wrote a sad message about the late star.

‘I am very saddened to hear that my longtime friend Ja’Net DuBois has passed away. I saw first hand just how she broke stereotypes and changed the landscape for Black women in entertainment. I am grateful that in recent years I had a chance to see her and to create more lasting memories. I pray for comfort for all of her family and friends. Thank you Ja’Net, I will miss you. 🖤’ the touching tribute reads.

Janet Jackson was only 11 years old in 1977 when she took on the role of Penny in the beloved series.

While she was part of the cast only until 1979, the two actually continued to be really close throughout her adult life as well.

The passing was really shocking and unexpected since she was not known to suffer from any illnesses and seemed to be in really good health.

That being said, at this time, the cause of death is yet to be determined.

TMZ previously reported that she was simply found dead in her home bedroom, after having passed away in her sleep.

Aside from her great role on the comedy series, the talented actress is also known for her voiceover work on the animated series The PJs, for which she even won two Emmy awards!

Ja’Net DuBois is leaving behind her three children. R.I.P.
