From Mansha Pasha to Maya Ali, replicate celeb Eid looks on a budget

  • May 05, 2021

KARACHI:

Eidul Fitr is right around the corner, and while this year may lack the typical celebratory mood, given the situation at home and across the world, it’s understandable if you want to take a break from your mundane work-from-home routine, throw on something pretty and feel a little better about life.

The pandemic will have most of us sheltering in place and celebrating Eid at home (if you were thinking of doing otherwise, we suggest you reconsider). However, there is no rule that you have to spend the day in pyjamas, unless of course, you want to! If you feel that your fashion senses have been dulled after a year of being at home, or if you just don’t feel like combing through Instagram for some outfit inspo, we have compiled a list of celebrity looks that will hopefully get you a little more excited for the upcoming festivities.

While we are always down to play dress up, we do understand that Covid-19 has left most people in a financial rut and strapped for cash. Brands haven’t helped much with the situation, with several Eid collections having starting prices above Rs10,000. It’s always a good idea to reuse cloth that you may already have lying around or that can be safely ordered from markets and have your Eid outfit stitched yourself in any style you like. You’ll end up saving quite a bit of money and you won’t run the risk of having four other people on your social media posting pictures in the exact same outfit as you.

Here’s a list of celebrity Eid looks that you can draw inspiration from this year:

1. Zara Peerzada

This look is chic, easy, breezy, and an absolute winner. Perfect for a summer Eid, this outfit looks comfortable enough to be worn around the house. It’ll keep you cool, with the pop of yellow in the skirt adding the much-needed sunshine all of our lives are lacking at the moment. You can pair any standard white (or any colour really) kameez that you have, embroidered or not, with a flowy skirt. Mix and match what you already have to get a new, effortless look. Throw on a pair of sunglasses and minimal jewellery and you’re good to go!

2. Mansha Pasha

Saris are perhaps one of the most versatile items of clothing we have at our disposal. Take a page from Mansha’s book and dig out your mom’s flowy saris from back in the day and make use of them this Eid. The starlet’s sari looks light as a feather and the soft pastel colours really make it the ultimate summer look. The lack of accessories makes this look quite wearable but you are welcome to add some jhumkas or a statement necklace to elevate it even further.

3. Hina Altaf

This one’s a classic, and perhaps the easiest to pull off. It’s a tried and tested look that is guaranteed to make you look and feel your absolute best. A colorful printed shalwar and white kameez are outfit staples and can be found in most closets. Pair a shalwar from an existing outfit with a kameez in any solid, complementary colour and you’re all set. We love the rolled-up sleeves and fun half-bun that Hina has going on. She exudes comfort in these photos, and in times as uncertain as these, we will cling on to any bit of comfort we can get. This look is the perfect choice for an Eid spent at home.

4. Maya Ali

This one’s the fanciest of the bunch, and if you’re willing to go all out during your at-home Eid, this could be the look for you. Maya looks stunning in a traditional black peshwas. Make use of any solid-coloured (or even printed) cloth piece that you may have lying around your home and get this stunning look stitched. You can recycle gold lace from clothing items you aren’t too fond of and add it to this look. Throw in a standard chiffon dupatta and give the camera a twirl!
