Trolls ask Swara Bhaskar to ‘move to Pakistan’ after she lauded Ali Xeeshan for her Valima outfit

  • March 22, 2023

Earlier this week, Bollywood actor Swara Bhaskar’s wedding festivities concluded with a grand reception. For her Valima in Bareily hosted by her husband Fahad Ahmad’s family, the actor wore a gorgeous pastel-hued lehenga by ace Pakistani designer Ali Xeeshan. However, many Indian users were not impressed with her choice of a designer from the neighbouring country.

Taking to Twitter, the starlet penned a heartwarming message for Ali Xeeshan. “My valima outfit came from Lahore via Dubai- Bombay-Delhi finally to Bareilly! I’ve long marvelled at the talent of Ali Xeeshan,” she said, “When I called him with the idea of wearing his design at my valima, his warmth and generosity made me admire him even more.”

She further added, “Ali who has never met me and is based in Lahore managed to send me my dream outfit for a wedding finale! Makes me realise love and friendship cannot be contained in borders and boundaries.”

Although Bhaskar’s tweet was full of love and admiration, Twitterati rushed to the comment section with derogatory remarks, even going as far as to label her as an “anti-nationalist.”

“These days some girls go to the lengths of getting married just so that they could praise their favourite country,” wrote an angered user, while another vexed tweep took a dig at the actor’s value in the Indian entertainment industry. “Beggars can’t be choosers! No Indian designers would have offered you to borrow their clothes.”

As Bhaskar’s tweet further circulated online, several others chimed in on the criticism. “Despite having so many talented workers here in India our Swara chose to have an outfit from Pakistani designers. Anti-national for a reason!” said a user.

Others took a jibe at the Veere Di Wedding star’s fondness for the Pakistani designer. “Congratulations, ma’am. At least someone caring for the poor Pakistani economy,” penned a tweep, while another said, “It is a very big contribution towards the Pakistan economy.”

“I think it’s better to shift to Lahore as well. You can make a lot more people happy,” expressed another disappointed Twitter user.

“You should have gotten married in Pakistan too!” read another tweet.

Continuing the online shaming, Twitterati increased their hateful comments on the actor’s post. “Go to Pakistan, get out,” suggested a disheartened fan. “If your friendships are beyond borders. Can Indian soldiers say the same too?” sarcastically asked an individual.
