Islamabad: The captivating performance of classical dancer Tehreema Mitha, an accomplished dancer and daughter of Indu Mitha, would remain in the memory of the fortunate audience who enjoyed the evening arranged by Pakistan National Council of the Art (PNCA) on Friday.
Ijaz Hussain, table player and Raees Khan on violin accompanied her in the evening making it a perfect combination of unmatchable talent. “Performing in Pakistan hold a special significance for me,” she says.
A ‘shagird’ of the legendary Mitha, she has gone onto choreograph and perform almost 70 original dance, both solo and ensemble. She creates all the accompanying music for her dances and has worked with renowned Ustad’s such as Ashraf Sharif Khan, Hamid Khan, Shahida Parveen and Sharafat Ali Khan.
Tehreema has also introduced the saxophone and western vocals into the mix for certain contemporary dancers. A number of dance lovers who attended the event got the chance to enjoy several captivating performances by Tehreema, who was wearing an impressive south India sari and traditional jewellery.
Tehreema’s contemporary dance was unique as it carried a strong classical influence that really made for a sensational new look at how genres could be blended.
