Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif recorded on Wednesday his statement in Al Azizia reference as the trials enters its last phase.
He remarked that has reviewed all the evidence against him.
When asked if he is the most ‘influential’ member of his family, Nawaz remarked that it was the opinion of the investigation team as he didn’t hold an official post from 1999 to 2013. “I was exiled from 2001 to 2008,” he said.

He cannot reply to question pertaining to tax submitted by Hussain Nawaz. Nawaz added that he has submitted his tax returns, wealth statement and wealth tax returns.
Nawaz recorded his statement in 45 of the 50 questions. He said that he will answer the remaining five questions after consultation with lawyer Khawaja Haris.
He asked for more time to submit his reply. “Some questions are quite confusing and I need to refer to previous records,” he said.
Judge Arshad Malik asked for a copy of his reply and said that he will ask about anything he didn’t understand.
The cross-examination of the investigating officer in Flagship reference has yet to be completed. The Supreme Court’s deadline to wrap up the cases will end in four days. The accountability court has decided to ask for another extension.
