Body of child who went missing two months ago found inside Lahore manhole

The body of a five-year-old boy who went missing two months ago was found in an open manhole in Lahore on Friday.

The boy’s brother and sister say this wouldn’t have happened if the manhole was covered. Police say they will know if it was a murder or accident after the post-mortem report.

The boy was found when a man was picking out plastic bottles from the manhole. An eyewitness said all the nearby manholes were uncovered. He said that the boy must have fallen into it.

The child’s father is a labourer. He was the youngest among five siblings. His sister, Kinza, said their family wants justice. “My brother has been lying dead in a manhole since two months. The manholes here are all uncovered,” she said.

The child’s body is in police custody.
