ICT admin impounds 11 vehicles over violation of lockdown orders

ISLAMABAD – Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) along with the field staff, ICT police, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) and Motorway Police inspected public transport in the capital city in order to ensure implementation of the lockdown orders, Covid-19 SOPs, and to check overcharging, overloading, route completion and route permits etc.

The officials said that in this regard, 43 vehicles were challaned on the violation of the rules. They said that 11 vehicles were impounded and sent to the concerned police stations. One person was also arrested. Other violators were warned and fined on the spot. A total of Rs 115,800 was imposed as fine on the violators.

Similarly, Magistrate (City) carried out inspection in F-6/F-7 Markaz and surroundings for price-checking of fruit/vegetables, meat/poultry, essential commodities and to ensure implementation of Covid-19 SOPs.  Magistrate ICT visited various fruit and vegetable stall in the City Sub Division. Fines were imposed and warnings were issued for use of polythene bags.  Five shopkeepers were fined and an amount of Rs 8,000 was imposed as fine collectively. Besides this, six persons were arrested, said the officials.
