SHO first to be fined by traffic police

A SHO was the first person the traffic police in Gilgit fined after getting powers to issue challan on Friday.  

A fine of Rs200 was imposed on him for parking his vehicle in the wrong area.

SSP Mirza Hasan and DSP traffic Baba Jan were the first officers to issue challan.

Previously, only the magistrate had the power to issue challan and the traffic police would just oversee traffic situation.

“Solving traffic issues have become a challenge,” said Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman. He outlined the necessity of giving such powers to the traffic police.
